Energy Committee
Mandate
The Energy Committee was formed to educate the Chamber members and to advocate on energy-related issues and projects in order to promote economic development in Sarnia-Lambton.

Listed below are some of the current issues that the committee will work on in the coming year:
- The potential closing of Lambton Generation Station and re-powering beyond 2014 where possible.
- Promote new and ongoing projects in Lambton such as:
- Bluewater Energy park
- Provident expansion
- St. Clair twp. Greenhouse project at Terra
- And other smaller projects related to FIT
- Community Power project
- Investigate and learn more about the impacts shale gas will have on industry.
- Reduce transmission constraints so that this region is eligible for all programs and services.
- Reduce burden of high electricity rates.
- Support additional crude supplies for refining locally.
- Learn more about the various bio-mass material feed stocks – agricultural and non-agricultural base.
- Co-host with Bluewater Power and BSI conservation seminars and promote to membership in partnership with member companies.
- Stay current and provide action where necessary as renewable electricity power generation develops in our community. Seek solutions to the challenges they face to promote job growth
