Greenbelt Committee

Mandate

The committee will act as a catalyst with community stakeholders and undertake projects that environmentally beautify, educate and develop partnerships on behalf of Chamber of Commerce members. Further, the committee is committed to the development of a greenbelt including tourism signage, vegetation and beautification throughout Lambton County through interface with various community partners.

Current issues that the committee will work on in the coming year:

 

  1. Continue to work with MTO to determine when larger plans for garden developments at Sarnia 402 highway off-ramps can be commenced subsequent to highway upgrade completion.
  2. Connect with other Chambers to request information on their environmental sustainability initiatives
  3. Recognize and reward members for beautification efforts made in the community.
  4. Communicate with Chamber members to request information regarding what initiatives they are undertaking to address issues of environmental sustainability in their workplace, what issues are they experiencing that they find challenging and what do they believe the Chamber can do to support them.
  5. Connect and collaborate with other environmental committees in the community on environmental initiatives.
